Theodore G. Paquette

Theodore G. Paquette, 84, of Union Street, also of Hampton, NH, passed peacefully on June 21, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Ted was born in West Stewartstown, NH, November 5, 1923, the son of Adrian and Laura (Lefebvre) Paquette. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Boys in Manchester and New Hampshire College with a degree in accounting.

Before college, he served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and saw combat in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. He landed on Omaha Beach shortly after D-Day and participated in the Air Offensive over Europe.

Upon leaving the Army, Ted returned to Manchester and married Elizabeth Martin, his wife of fifty-seven years.

Ted began his professional career at Textron designing and installing accounting systems. He then worked for NCR in Dover and Manchester for many years. After a brief time at Phillips Northern Data, he finished his career with Digital Equipment Corp. He retired in 1990.

As an active member of St. Anne Parish, Ted was very involved in CYO as a counselor and in many parish fundraising functions. He served on the Parish Finance Committee and later on the Diocesan Real Estate Board.

Ted was also a member of the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post # 2. He volunteered at Prime Time assisting the elderly with tax matters. He was a lifetime member of the National Society of Accountants.

Ted enjoyed golf, fishing, home improvement projects, playing cards, and spending time with his wife Betty, his children and grandchildren. He was particularly fond of cribbage games with his children and grandchildren which he taught them at early ages. On any given Wednesday or Saturday, he could be found playing cards at Sweeney Post or Intervale Country Club.

In addition to his wife, he leaves six children: Deborah Gelston of New York, NY, Mary Ellen Hopkins of Franklin, TN, Donna Seigel, Martin Paquette, Pamela Paquette, and Elaine McCarthy, all of North Hampton, NH. He is also survived by his six grandchildren whom he loved very much. His extended family included many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula Paquette in 1975 and sister, Joan (Paquette) Pieklik.

The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Monsignor John Molan, on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in St. Anne-St. Augustin Church, Beech St. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
