Theresa E. Spuler, 87, of Nashua, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. She was born on June 30, 1938 in Neptune, NJ to the late Edward J. Spuler, Sr. and Mary (White) Spuler of Freehold, NJ.

Theresa attended St. Rose of Lima Elementary School in Freehold, and graduated Trenton Catholic, Class of 1956. She followed in her older sister’s footsteps by joining the Sisters of Mercy in 1956.

In 1970 Theresa graduated from Georgian Court in Lakewood, NJ with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Theresa attended Boston College, completing MEd in Urban Education in 1975. She left the convent in 1978, but continued teaching until her retirement in 2009.

Theresa taught from 1958-1971. She then served as Principal of Holy Spirit Elementary School in Atlantic City, NJ from 1970-1972. She was Assistant Principal and teacher at Center City Catholic School in Camden, NJ from 1972-1979. She was a Basic Skills Teacher - Chapter 1 assigned to Our Lady Star of the Sea School from 1979-2009. Theresa’s commitment to helping and educating young people left a lasting impression for decades!

Theresa lived for many years in Brigantine, NJ. She loved the beach, the sun, and laying out. She even acquired the NJ license plate “SUN ONE” for her vehicle.

Theresa enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, and cryptograms. She was an avid fan of the Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Judge Judy.

She enjoyed gambling throughout her life, with many days spent in Atlantic City Casinos and more recently in Nashua and Boston Casinos.

Theresa showed great generosity to working people, especially wait staff and bus persons.

Theresa’s time in Nashua was made more comfortable by Easter Seals of NH and Denise Vocell, who assisted with Theresa’s care. The Nashua Public Library made it possible for Theresa to have access to the endless supply of books available. Mark King went above and beyond and provided personal communication with each delivery.

Theresa had a deep love for her family, especially her two great nieces and great nephew. She lived vicariously through them and was always excited to hear about the latest developments in their lives!

She is survived by her niece, Kathleen Ann Spuler and her partner Mark Libertini of Nashua, Kathy’s children, Garrett Labonte and Karli Labonte, her nephew, Edward J Spuler III of Dover, his wife Sandy Silsby, and their daughter, Margaret Spuler, and her sister, in law Terry Spuler.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her two sisters: Mary Ann and Frances Spuler; and her brother: Edward J. Spuler, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Dec. 22, 2025 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 62 Manchester St., Nashua at 10 AM. Burial will be private. For livestream, please visit:
