Theresa was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on August 20, 1926 to Edgar and Yvonne (Papillon) Roy where she attended Catholic schools and business college. After her schooling she worked for an attorney and then was employed as a dental assistant.
She married Gaston R. Vaillancourt in 1948 after which they moved to the United States, settling in Whitefield.
She dedicated her life to raising her four children and assisting her husband in his jewelry store. Theresa was very active in community service including the Catholic Daughters of America and the Women's Study Club, serving as Grand Regent and President respectively. She was instrumental in establishing the Meals on Wheels program in Whitefield.
Theresa enjoyed and was extremely accomplished at cooking, sewing and gardening. In later years she enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her husband, eventually moving to Belleair after their retirement.
Her family includes two daughters, Susan Vaillancourt and Sylvia Langer, both of Manchester; a son, Michel Vaillancourt of Chapel Hill, NC; two granddaughters, Jessica Langer of Manchester and Samantha Vaillancourt of Chapel Hill, NC; a sister, Gisele Lessard of Exeter(formerly of Gorham); and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gaston; her son, Jean Paul Vaillancourt; and her sister, Marthe Berube.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in St. Matthew Church, Whitefield, NH. Committal prayers followed at Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield.
