He was born in Denville, NJ and attended St. Mary's R.C. School until the family moved to Merrimack, NH in 1974. Tom attended local schools and actively participated in athletics, including: football, baseball, basketball, gymnastics and swimming. He was a graduate of Bishop Guertin H. S. in Nashua. A lifelong lover of literature, he attended Mitchell College of Connecticut, Merrimack Valley College of New Hampshire and St. Anselm College of New Hampshire, where he was awarded a prize for his poetry.
Tom loved fishing, the White Mountains of NH, and the seacoast. He spoke often of the beauty of NH and his fondness for the change of seasons.
In 1997, Tom was predeceased by his beloved mother, Helen (Teahan) Greene of Merrimack, NH. Tom relocated to Naples, FL in 2002 to care for his ailing father, Francis A. Greene, which he did selflessly and with great devotion until his father's passing in June 2004.
Tom was an accomplished chef and worked at several area restaurants in Naples.
A troubadour and inspired musician, Tom shared his love of song generously with all who knew him. He was well-known by his many friends at Naples City Pier where he frequently fished in the evening and was always ready to engage in good conversation.
He is survived by numerous friends and loved ones, including six brothers and sisters; Mary McKillop and husband, Mike of Auburn, NH; Frank X. Greene of Nashua, NH; Eileen M. Greene of Bolton, MA; twin brother, Ray Greene and his wife, Ann Theresa Kwinn of Los Angeles, CA; Jim Greene of Jamaica Plain, MA; and John T. Greene and wife, Maryjo and their three sons, Liam, Timothy and Sean all of Amherst, NH. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom remained close with his extended family: the Greene's, Briody's, Teahan's, Coyne's, Moylan's, Sullivan's and Brennans. He also kept in close contact with friends and continued to reach out to everyone throughout his life. He will always be remembered as a true and good friend. His creative spirit, special love, and footprints on our hearts will remain with us forever.
