Thomas Canotas McCue

April 14, 1994 — December 9, 2017

Thomas Canotas McCue of Manchester, NH died peacefully on December 9, 2017. He was 23 years old, living and working in Saint Paul, MN and looking forward to beginning college in Minneapolis next month.

Thomas was a sweet, sensitive, intelligent, funny, and loving young man who had more friends than he realized. He attended Manchester Central High School and graduated from Family Foundation School, Hancock NY, in 2012. He was admitted to Rutgers University (Class of 2017) but the disease of addiction and the challenges he faced led him on a different path. Along the way he had the support of many kind and talented people who understood, befriended and guided him - for whom we are grateful. He demonstrated great strength and resilience.

Thomas loved the ocean and the lake. He enjoyed attending YMCA Camp Coniston, Grantham NH, especially as a Counselor-in-Training. At Central High School, he was a member of the Varsity Swim Team and the Central Crew Club.

Much to his surprise, and far outside his comfort zone, he played the lead as Mr. Mushnik in his high school musical "Little Shop of Horrors" and performed with the chorus at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2012. But his flair for performing arts was most evident when he was telling jokes and sharing stories.

Thomas loved music and art, especially tattoo art. He was happiest drawing and surrounded by his friends and family. He will be remembered lovingly for his fierce loyalty, compassion and humor.

He is survived by his parents, Vasiliki Canotas and Mark McCue; his sister, Amelia and brother, Matthew; his grandmothers, Fanny Canotas and Ruth McCue; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Plato Canotas and John McCue.

A funeral service took place on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Fr. Michael Wilson officiated. Private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
