Ursula M. Smith, 91, of Bedford died February 17, 2009 at the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
She was born in Germany, the daughter of Arthur and Helene (Krueger) Lasch and had lived in Amherst for over 20 years.
Mrs. Smith grew up and was educated in Germany where she attended law school until it was interrupted by the war.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was active in the Girl Scouts with her daughter.
Mrs. Smith worked many years for Filene's department store and she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and husband.
She was an avid gardener and a member of the Amherst Garden Club.
The family includes her beloved husband of 58 years, Beverly P. Smith; a daughter, Helena Garbarini of Fairfield CT; two sons, Sterling P. Smith of Woodside CA and John-Fiske Smith of Mill Valley, CA; and two grandchildren.
SERVICES: Services took place in the spring at the convenience of the family.
