Victoria B. (Baroody) Ameen, 90, of Manchester passed away December 29, 2017 after a period of declining health.
Born in Manchester on February 19, 1927, she was the daughter of Joseph E. and Effie (Saffie) Baroody. She attended Bakersville Grammar School and graduated from Manchester High School Central.
Prior to retirement, she had worked as a secretary in the savings bond division of the US Treasury for many years. Previously, she had worked at the VA Medical Center in Manchester.
During her working years, Vicki was known for her efficient and organized work ethic. She was always both pleasant and professional and earned the respect of all who worked with her.
Above all else, Vicki will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, step-mother, step-grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished her faith, family and friends.
She was self-less, always willing to put the needs of others before her own.
Vicki was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, W. Thomas Ameen, and her siblings, Elias and Fred Baroody, and Mae Baroody.
Thomas, Vicki's primary caretaker, wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Vicki's "village" of caregivers for the wonderful care, compassion and friendship they provided her over the past four years. Thank you Adrienne, Amanda, Annette, Crystal, Dee, Deedra, Kayla, Lisa, Maureen, Meghan, Peggy, Sue-Ellen, Susannah, Susanne, and Tanji.
Family members include her step-sons, Thomas W. Ameen, Vicki's primary caretaker, of Manchester, Theodore M. Ameen of Newport, NC; her step-grandchildren, Miranda and Nathan Ameen of Newport, NC; nephews, Joseph Baroody of Manchester, James Baroody of Londonderry, Christopher Baroody of Chelmsford, MA; niece, Nancy Kalinski of Manchester.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in Blessed Sacrament Church, So Elm St. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
