Violette R. Bournival 90, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Elliot Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Manchester on February 24, 1933, she was the daughter to the late William and Alice (Simoneau) Belanger. She was a graduate of St. Anthony High School in Manchester where she was the class President. While raising her family, she worked at various companies, including Roberts Express and Auclair Transportation.
Violette enjoyed bowling and was an active member and director of the Walkers Bowling League for over 30 years at Lakeside Lanes. She also was an avid walker, especially with the City of Manchester’s Walkers League. Violette was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crafts, especially counted cross-stitch and embroidery. She loved to travel and with her husband, Roger, went on many trips across the country.
Devoted to her Catholic Faith, she was a lifetime parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church where she also volunteered for many years. Further, she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne’s Society where she served as Treasurer and spent countless hours on the annual Holiday Penny Sale.
Violette is lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, Roger L. Bournival; her two sons, Laurent “Larry” Bournival and his wife, Carol of Bedford, and David Bournival and his wife, Kathy of Auburn; her daughter, Linda Bournival–Collins and her husband, Gerald of Kingston; seven grandchildren, Doug, Katie, Nicole, Anne, Michael, Kelly and Stephanie; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Cole, Payton, Charlotte and Delilah; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Violette’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all at Elliott Hospital and Wingate Residences of Haverhill, MA who cared for her and showed her such love and kindness.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (10/18) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday (10/19) at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. For those who wish, memorial donations in Violette’s name may be made to either Easterseals New Hampshire, 555 Auburn St., Manchester 03103 and Alzheimer’s Foundation at alzfdn.org.
