Virginia L. (Martinson) Erskine, 86, of Bangor, ME, died January 11, 2004, at the Bangor Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born in Manchester, NH, Dec. 3, 1917, she was the daughter of Oscar and Margaret (Carlin) Martinson. She had been a Manchester resident most of her life. She graduated from Central High School, class of 1936B, married, raised a family and had a long career as a secretary in the Manchester area. She retired from the American Cancer Society, New Hampshire Division.
Virginia was a lifelong member of the Daughters of Scotia and of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Manchester. She was a deacon, and elder of the church, and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the church's Unity Circle and Fortnightly Couples' Club.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Lewis Erskine and by her daughter, Laurel Thomas.
Family members include two daughters, Elizabeth Patches and Margaret Puckett, both of Bangor, ME; six grandchildren, Kirsten Ellis of Los Angeles, CA, Evan Thomas and Daniel Thomas of Milford, NH, Barbera Dooley of Greenbelt, MD, Blaine Puckett and Carlin Puckett of Bangor, ME
Services were held Friday January 16, 2004 in the funeral home. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
