Walter M. Belair, “Wally”, passed away peacefully in his home with his wife and family at his side.
He was born in Manchester, NH on August 14th, 1951. He attended Manchester schools and graduated from Central High School in 1970.
He served in the US Air Force from 1971 to 1974 as Fire Protection specialist/firefighter.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked in several different fields, ranging from being a State correctional officer for 10 years to last working 30 plus years at Manchester Water Works. He was a true advocate of the blue-collar worker. He supported Sweeney Post American Legion #2 in Manchester.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Maureen and loving son, David and wife Melissa, who Wally loved as a daughter. He also leaves two grandsons, Jacob and Henry; a granddaughter, Dorianne (daughter of son Leigh-deceased). He will be greatly missed by his beloved Golden Retriever, Shiloh.
Wally enjoyed scuba diving, being a private pilot, riding his Harley-Davidson trike, and traveling in his RV, all done with Maureen. He fulfilled his lifelong wish of going on a Caribbean cruise with his kids and had the time of his life, unaware that he was as ill as he was. He especially enjoyed camping with his son and the rest of the TAHHs. He was a proud member of the SBC.
He was known for his good sense of humor, “Jolly Wally” was loved by his family and friends. He could be heard to reply that he was “Fair to Midland” when asked how he was doing!
His family would like to thank the Manchester VNA Hospice for all their care and support provided to Wally. They wish to especially thank Carmita and Heidi for their exceptional care and compassion showered upon him and his family. This contributed to his peaceful passing.
