He was born in Secunderabad, India on February 24, 1934, the son of Marion and Agnes (D'Souza) Lima. He was educated and received his medical training while residing in India. He also attended the Royal College of Physicians in London, England.
Prior to his illness, Dr. Lima had been employed as an emergency room physician at the Elliot Hospital. Previously, he had worked at Boston Children's Hospital and had also practiced at various other hospitals, both across the United States and internationally.
Well-known for his keen intellect and willingness to help others, Dr. Lima will be remembered as a very generous and giving man. He assisted many local charities and was a member of the Rotary Club. He loved traveling, music, and playing tennis.
A dedicated family man, Dr. Lima was a loving and dedicated husband and father. He was a long-time communicant of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford.
He was predeceased by his wife Angela (Pereira) Lima in 1995.
Members of his family include one daughter, Tara Anne Lima of Merrimack; one son, Marc Francis Lima of Manchester; one brother, Henry Lima of San Francisco; one sister, Philo Elias of Secunderabad, India; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, on Tuesday June 5, 2007. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
