Walter C. Meyer

Walter C. Meyer, 64, of Bedford, NH, died suddenly from a heart attack on December 28, 2020 at Exeter Hospital.

Born in Plainfield, NJ on December 13, 1956, he was the son of the late Berthold and Barbara (Meder) Meyer. He was a graduate of Pentucket High School in Groveland, MA. He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA, and his Master's of Science degree in Taxation from Bentley College in Waltham, MA.
Walter worked as a CPA for many firms throughout his career and retired as Executive Director from Ernst & Young in Boston, in 2019, after 30 years of employment.

He served as President of the Board of Directors for the Career Resources Corporation in Haverhill, MA for several years. He was involved in charitable foundations throughout his career. One organization was the United Way of Manchester, where he served as President of the Board of Directors in the 1990's.

He also served as Treasurer for "Hands across the Merrimack" in Manchester, NH for several years.

Walter was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He loved watching all sports and had a passion for classic cars. One of his favorite sports teams was the Boston Celtics, and he had been a Celtics' season ticket holder since 1979 with his friend Gary Urso of Haverhill, MA. Walter was the person that everyone went to for help, guidance, and support. He was his wife Edith's "rock" and her soul mate. Above all else, Walter will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Surviving family members include his beloved wife of 34 years, Edith L. (Blais) Meyer; twin sons, Collin W. Meyer and Alex B. Meyer both of Bedford; one sister, Carol Anne Angley and husband John of Exeter; one brother, Douglas Meyer of Haverhill, MA; and one niece, Barbara Angley of Exeter. He was predeceased by both parents; and one nephew, Bryan Angley.

SERVICES: Calling hours, with masks and strict social distancing will take place from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH 03104. Due to Covid restrictions, all other services will be private to family only. Walter will be buried in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
