He was born on August 11, 1922, in Montpelier, VT. He served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed as an iron worker with Lyons Steel in Manchester for many years. Previously he had also been a physical education teacher at St. Francis School.
Wayne loved sports and was a longtime coach for many local youth leagues.
He was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in the company of his wife and family.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years Esther A. (King) Amsden in 2009 and a son Wayne M. Amsden in 2005.
He is survived by his son Timothy Amsden of Auburn.
Family members also include three grandchildren, Josslyn and Jonathan Amsden of Provo, UT, and Myah Amsden of Auburn; two brother-in-laws, Peter J. King and John A. King, both of Manchester; one sister-in-law, Irene Smestad of Manchester; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
The funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, October 8, 2010. Burial with military honors followed in St. Joseph New Cemetery, Donald St, Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Blessed Sacrament Parish Food Pantry, 14 So. Elm St, Manchester, NH 03101.
