Wilfrid P. Ouimette

Wilfrid P. Ouimette, 93, of Manchester died Tuesday November 8, 2022 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center, surrounded by his family.

Born March 17, 1929 in Dixville, Quebec, he was the son of Jeremy & Rosa (Arnold) Ouimette.  Wilfrid grew up on a farm and loved animals.  In 1960 he moved to Manchester with his wife Bernadette (Marchessault) and family.

Aside from the farm, Wilfrid worked as a lumberjack while in Canada.  In Manchester, he worked as a machine tender in the Chicopee, Waumbec and other local manufacturers.  He had a strong work ethic.

Wilfrid was known to be a storyteller.  He loved a good laugh.  He enjoyed playing the harmonica, music and dancing.  He and Bernadette were always the last ones to leave the dance floor.  He enjoyed playing Pichenotte, cards, word searches, and was an avid walker.  He loved his grandchildren very much.

Wilfrid is survived by his children Lorraine Diamantopolous of Manchester, Michael Ouimette & his partner Mary Matas of Chester, Celine Marshall & her husband Robert of Manchester, Marielle Hebert & her husband Rick of Manchester, Peter Ouimette & his wife Joanne of Hooksett, Rene Ouimette & his wife Donna of Manchester; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister Jeanne Chouinard; brother Gil Ouimette; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.  He was predeceased by his wife Bernadette, his parents Jeremy & Rosa, his son-in-law Michael Diamantopolous, siblings George, Gerard, Phillippe, Therese, Rita, Bernadette, & Bernard, and his grand-daughter Lynsay Ouimette.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Monday November 14, 10 am to 12 pm at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, followed by a service in the funeral home at 12 pm.  Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
