He was born in Laconia, NH on July 8, 1947, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Scott) Bean. He was educated in the Manchester school system and was a graduate of Manchester Memorial High School.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed as a truck driver with Local 633 in Manchester. He most recently had been employed by Teamsters Local 25 in Boston.
William was a founding member of the NH Professional Drivers' Association, a member of the Antique Truck Club of America as well as the American Truck Historical Society. In 1987 he placed first in the NH Motor Transport Association's Professional Truck Driving Championships Roadeo. He went on to compete in Texas for the national championship.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to help others in need.
Members of his family include his daughters, Virginia M. Lorenz of Bedford and Rebecca E. Bean of Hooksett; two grandchildren; his former wife, Karen R. Hill of Epsom; his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Bean; one sister, Beverly E. Bean of Manchester.
A memorial service was held in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St., on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
