It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William “Billy” Gregory Bernard, 67, who left us on January 10th, 2025.
Bill grew up in Manchester, NH, and was a lifelong member of the Derryfield Country Club, where he pursued his love of golf. It wasn’t just a hobby for him, but a passion that brought him joy and challenge. Whether on the course or spending time with friends who shared his love for the game, golf was a constant and cherished part of his life.
He began his career as an ironworker, a profession that developed a strong work ethic and hands-on skills. After ten years, he decided to continue his education and returned to school at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Bill went on to work as a Civil Engineer, and later transitioned to a successful career in insurance sales. Eventually, he became a landlord and property owner, managing several real estate holdings in the Manchester area.
Bill was a loving brother and a proud uncle with a constant source of love and support for his nieces and nephews, who will carry his memory and legacy in their hearts always. Those closest to Bill could attest to the care he had for his family and friends. He had a way of surprising us with his thoughtfulness—whether through a well-timed word of encouragement or an unexpected act of generosity. Bill’s love, though unspoken at times, was always present in the quiet ways he showed he cared.
Bill was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to keep everything in perfect order. Whether at home, at work, or in his personal life, Bill took great pride in being organized, ensuring that everything had its place. His methodical approach to life made him someone others could always count on, and his ability to stay organized brought a sense of calm and efficiency to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of order and thoughtful planning.
Bill lived life on his own terms, never one to follow the crowd or conform to expectations. Those who were fortunate enough to be close to him saw the quiet love he had for his family and the deep, unspoken loyalty he showed to those he cared about.
A true animal lover, Bill shared a special, unbreakable bond with his dog, Jett, who was not only a loyal companion but a cherished member of the family. Whether enjoying long walks together at the coast or simply relaxing at home, their connection was a source of great joy and comfort. Bill’s love for Jett was a testament to his caring and gentle nature, and his faithful friend will forever be a part of his memory.
He leaves behind brother Bob (Robert) and his wife Gail Bernard of Bedford, NH, brother Don (Donald) and his wife Joanne Bernard of Concord, NH, niece Kara Bernard of Manchester, NH, nephew Brett Bernard of Victor, Idaho, nephew Erik Bernard and his wife Lindsey Bernard of Merrimack, NH, niece Lauren Bernard of Hooksett, NH and five grand nieces and nephews.
