William J. "Bill" DesGrosseilliers

May 16, 1938 — October 6, 2022

William Joseph DesGrosseilliers (Bill), 84, longtime resident of Merrimack, NH died October 6, 2022 surrounded by his family.


Born in Manchester on May 16, 1938, he was the son of Emile J. and Alice (Lagasse) DesGrosseilliers.  After his birth mother died when he was 4 years old, he was raised by his stepmother, the late Lillian (Coll) DesGrosseilliers.


He served in the NH Army National Guard for 9 years and was activated during the Berlin Crisis.
Prior to retirement, Bill was the owner and president of Paradis Insurance Agency in Manchester for over 30 years.  Previously, he had worked as a Special Agent and State Agent for New Hampshire Insurance for 15 years.


Always active in his community, he served as director and coach of the Merrimack Youth Association.  He was a longstanding member of the Manchester Country Club.  He also volunteered for Crimeline in Manchester, the Kiwanis Club, and was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Monastery of the Precious Blood.  He was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Merrimack.  


Bill was predeceased by his twin brother, Wilfred J. DesGrosseilliers.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances (Gilbert) DesGrosseilliers. 


Family members include his children, William DesGrosseilliers Jr and wife Lynne of Merrimack, Mark DesGrosseilliers and wife Jill of Merrimack, Maria DesGrosseilliers Wilson and husband Ted of Basel, Switzerland; his grandchildren, Brian DesGrosseilliers and wife Cassie of Centerville, MA, Tristan Wilson of Basel, Switzerland; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Madilynn DesGrosseilliers, both of Centerville, MA.


Visiting hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, will be Thursday, October 13th from 10 am to noon, followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at noon.  Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
