William F. "Bill" Laird, 74, of Bedford, NH formerly of Lawrence, MA died September 13, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on May 29, 1942, he was the son of Frederick and Maria (Ortiz) Laird. He was educated in the Lawrence School System and graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1961. Prior to an honorable discharge, he had served his country in the US Naval Reserves.
Bill was an entrepreneur, who spent many years in automotive sales traveling all over the Northeast. He also loved politics; social issues and being involved in sports and helping his 3 children achieve their dreams.
He will be remembered as a very generous man, who along with his many friends formed the Howard Association to help support many worthy causes in his community. Between fundraising, food basket offerings, and counseling, Bill was able to touch the lives of thousands of people and improve their outlook on life. It was as if Bill knew everyone. He was very social and had many life-long friendships.
Bill joined his wife Diane in 1994 to open their first Career School in Cosmetology and have run a successful family owned business named "Laird Institute of Spa Therapy" all these years that has strived to help students achieve their career goals. Bill was loved deeply by all the staff and students that knew him.
He had been an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Bedford.
He was predeceased by his father and his sister, Cheryl Laird.
Family members include his wife of 46 years, Diane (Latulippe) Laird of Bedford; his children, Jamie W. Laird of Sanford, ME, Kristen E. Laird of Charlestown, MA and Jared M. Laird and wife Anika of Bedford; his grandchildren, Colby, Myles, Noah, Hannah, Heidi and Jude; his mother of Salem, NH; his siblings, Maria DeFrancesco, Arlene Murray and Michael Laird; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Road, Bedford. Burial was in the family plot in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Methuen..
