William E. Farragher

   William E. ‘Bill’ Farragher, 101, of Manchester, NH (formerly of Canfield and Youngstown, Ohio) died September 16, 2023, at The Courville at Manchester after a period of declining health.

   Bill was born in Youngstown, OH on July 22, 1922, to William and Alice (Selby) Farragher, Sr.  Following his WWII service with the U.S. Army in Alaska, Bill received his B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University. While doing graduate work at the University of Wisconsin he met Arden L. Smith. They wed in December 1951.

   He began his advertising and marketing career working for Magnavox, and then Instant Whip. In 1958 he returned to Youngstown to work for the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company.  For more than 35 years Bill was a marketing consultant as principal of Farragher Marketing Services in Canfield, Ohio.

   Bill believed strongly in giving back to his community. In the Mahoning Valley he served many organizations in various capacities: St. John’s Episcopal Church, Habitat for Humanity, The Youngstown Symphony, Planned Parenthood, Help Network, and many others.

   He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Arden Smith Farragher and a daughter, Kate Louise Farragher.

   Bill is survived by four children, Kelly Farragher-Paras (Stan) of Manchester, NH; Allison Farragher of Everett, WA; Mark Farragher (Trish) of Everett, WA; Robert Shellenbarger (Kris) of Eau Claire, WI; eight grandchildren, Harrison Paras (Betsy), Alexander Paras (Naelene), Patrick Gray (Leslie), Colin Gray (Claire), Bailee Shellenbarger, Spencer Shellenbarger, Kaitlyn Shellenbarger, Steven Shellenbarger; and two great grandchildren Mirabel and Annelise Gray. He also leaves two cousins, Richard Selby and Sally Rose; a brother-in-law, Ivan C. Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

   The family would like to thank all the staff of The Courville at Manchester for their outstanding care during Bill’s last years.

   SERVICES:  A visitation at 10AM will be followed by a funeral and interment ceremony at 11AM on October 27 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, OH.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley 480 Youngstown-Poland Rd. Struthers, OH 44471.

   Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
