William F. Houghton Sr., 73, of Manchester, NH died September 4, 2005 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
He was born in Manchester, NH on July 30, 1932, the son of John A. and Julia V. (Hartnett) Houghton. He graduated from St. Joseph High School for Boys and received a business degree from New Hampshire College.
He served in the US Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Houghton worked in sales for many years prior to retiring from Colonial Cutting Die Company.
He was active in the South Manchester Junior Deb Softball League and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Members of his family include his wife of 49 years, Carol A. (Simard) Houghton of Manchester; 2 sons, William Houghton Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Manchester, and Michael Houghton and his wife Deborah of Stratham; 3 daughters, Lee Houghton Davis and husband Stephen of Hampton, Maureen Houghton of Tennessee and Laurie Houghton of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Houghton Owen and her husband Daniel of Atlanta, Matthew Houghton and wife Kimberly of Manchester, Jennifer Houghton of Manchester, and Ryan Houghton of Stratham; one great-grandchild, Avery Houghton of Manchester; 3 brothers, John Houghton, Laurence Houghton, and Paul Houghton, all of Manchester; a sister, Mary Wagner of Manchester; many nephews, nieces, and cousins especially Susan Dery of Manchester; He was pre-deceased by two brothers Thomas and Richard Houghton and a sister, Ann Houghton LaFortune;
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Litchfield, on Thursday September 8, 2005 with the Rev. Monsignor John Molan officiating. Burial followed St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
