William H. Ladieu, 72, of Hooksett, loving husband, father, and friend passed away March 30th, with his family by his side.
Bill was born in Laconia on April 26, 1943, he was the son of Francis and Mildred (Rogers) Ladieu. Bill spent his early years in Belmont on the family farm. The family later moved to Laconia where Bill attended Laconia High School.
Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army and achieved the rank of SP4. Bill completed his basic training at Fort Dix in New Jersey and worked as an automotive maintenance technician while stationed Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany.
After discharge from the service, Bill worked fixing cars at Irwin Motors. Bill later opened "Bill's Auto Body" and worked his magic on every vehicle he touched. After closing the auto body Bill transitioned to Allstate Insurance Company and worked as a claims adjuster for 26 years until his retirement in 1999.
Bill will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Above all, Bill placed his family and friends first and everything he did was for them. While his family was always first, fishing trips with his son and friends Norman and Wyndell were a close second. Bill also had a love of camping and spent many weekends and vacations with his young family traveling around New England and Canada. Later, Bill and his wife enjoyed the luxury of their motorhome and took trips south to Nashville and west to Wyoming and Utah. Bill's love of cars translated to a love of racing and he was a fan of NASCAR. Bill and his wife had the opportunity to travel to various races and meet many of his favorite drivers. Bill also had the incredible ability to fix or make anything and spent countless hours working on projects around his home. Bill was known for his sense of humor and his infectious laugh and will be missed by all.
Family members include his wife of 52 years, Janet (Cousins) Ladieu of Hooksett; his son, Scott Ladieu and wife Martha of Hooksett; his daughters, Cheryl Kalns of Manchester, Susan Raymond of Midvale, UT; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, Laura, Alison, and Jake; one great-grandson, Mason; his siblings, John Ladieu and his wife Jaine of Georgia, Eileen Ladieu Sohn and her husband Steve of Newton, MA, James Ladieu of Laconia, and Richard Ladieu of Utah; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A graveside committal service and burial with military honors was held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Meetinghouse Cemetery in Gilmanton.
