William R. McLaughlin, 51, of Manchester, died August 28, 2005, in Virginia, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. He was traveling with a FEMA team on their way to Louisiana to aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
He was born in Manchester on November 8, 1953 and was the son of William R. and Beverley M. (Cuchetti) McLaughlin.
Mr. McLaughlin was a graduate of Manchester High School West, class of 1973. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He worked as an electrician for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Manchester for 27 years. For the last 2 years Mr. McLaughlin was a power controller for the North East FEMA team out of Maynard, MA. He was a NH Granite State Ambassador volunteering at the Manchester Airport and at the Visitors Center in Concord NH.
He loved roller coasters and traveled cross-country to try and ride them all. He tried to spend 6 to 7 weeks a year vacationing. He loved camping with his family.
Family members include his wife, Judith Anne Lavallee, of Manchester; a daughter, Melanie Rusiski, of Manchester; his mother of Manchester; a brother, Richard McLaughlin, of Henniker; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday September 2, 2005 in St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St. Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery,Goffstown Rd. Manchester.
