He was born in Manchester, on June 16, 1921, to Paul and Mary (Ouellette) Silakos.
For many years William worked in the shipping and receiving department for the former Bi-Rite - Dufresne Store in Manchester. During his retirement he worked as the caretaker for Blessed Sacrament Parish.
During World War II he served with the Reconnaissance Company 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion, and saw action in the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign.
He will be remembered as an easy going guy. He loved all sports and enjoyed keeping track of the national sports teams, especially golfing.
Family members include 2 sons, Paul and Steven Silakos, both of Manchester; 4 grandchildren, Casandra, Jim Debbie, Cassandra, Silakos; 3 great grandchildren, Antony, Victoria, Nicholas. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2002, and his grand daughter, Stephanie, in 1992.
A private family service took place at the convenience of the family. Burial took place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
