William F. Stone

William F. Stone, 89, of Bedford, NH died October 27, 2009 at the Elliot Hospital.

He was born in Worcester, MA on September 24, 1920, the son of Edmund A. and Winifred (Butler) Stone. He had lived in Cumberland, RI for fifteen years prior to moving to New Hampshire.

Prior to retirement, he had served as president and chairman of the United Federal Savings Bank in Manchester, NH. Previously, he had worked in the banking industry in the Providence area.

He was very active in his community holding membership in the Manchester Police Foundation, The One Hundred Club, the Manchester Country Club, the Rotary Club, as well as helping students receive a quality education through the Junior Achievement Program. He enjoyed spending time at his Meredith, NH residence and wintering with his wife in Marco Island, FL. He will most be remembered as a loving family man who devoted his life to his wife and children.

His wife Claire A. (Abercrombie) Stone died in December of last year.

Family members include his daughters Linda S. Deacon and her husband David of Cumberland, RI, Cynthia Chaston and her husband Jim of Needham, MA, Lisa C. Petersen and her husband Doug of Brookline, NH; one son, William E. Stone and his wife Tracie of Bedford, NH; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Claire Clifford of Maine; a sister-in-law, Shirley Meinelt of Windham, NH; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, October 30, 2009 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Burial followed in Bedford Center Cemetery.
