Winifred “Winnie” Cote, 85, of Goffstown, NH, passed away on April 29, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born on May 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Hoskins and Prudence (Cunliffe) Hoskins. She graduated from Newton High School in 1956 and Framingham College in 1960.
Before graduating college, Winnie worked summers at Hampton Beach, NH, where she met her late ex-husband James J. Cote, Sr. Together, they had six children and settled in Bedford, NH, where Winnie was an active community member. She joined the school system as a teacher’s aide, taught at the Bedford Village Morning School, and served in leadership roles for the Bedford Bluffs, where she was an avid tennis player.
Winnie went on to have a 26+ year career in mortgage banking, receiving many awards, including 1994 Nashua Affiliate of the Year, 1996 Affiliate of the Year by the Greater Manchester Board of Realtors, 2000 Nashua Women’s Council of the Year, and 2005 Certified Mortgage Professional. Winnie (Mom, Mimi, and Great Grammy) became an avid golfer and loved playing cards (Bridge & Cribbage) and watching sports with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Winnie was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Dunfey and her stepmother, Angelina Hoskins, .
Winnie is survived by her sister Nancy Hooper of Gainesville, FL, many nieces, nephews, and her six children, Kim Noyes Trammell and husband, William of Tamworth, NH, Suzanne Cote of Manchester, NH, James J. Cote, Jr. of Tamworth, NH, Christopher Cote of Concord, NH, Michael Cote and wife, Christine of Bedford, NH, and Kellie Goodson and husband, Christopher of Dallas, TX. Winnie was blessed with many grandchildren, including Kenneth and Jarred Noyes, Billy Trammell, Joshua Cote, Madison Cote, and James, David, and Winnie Goodson. Her great-grandchildren include Aubrey, Olivia, and Ava Noyes, and Colby and Oliver Trammell.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (5/13) from 10 am to 1 pm, with a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 12:45pm, all at Lambert Funeral Home, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH. Committal prayers will follow in the family lot at Bedford Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.
