Wolfgang K. Koechel

Wolfgang Kurt Koechel, 83, of Bedford died January 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Apolda, Germany on November 22, 1927 and was a World War II boy soldier and prisoner-of-war. After escaping Russian occupied East Germany, he met his wife Ingeborg and came to the United States.

Wolfgang worked hard and became Vice President of Engineering and partner in Fleck Knitwear, Plainfield, NJ until his retirement.

The family would like to express its gratitude for the caring staff at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack for taking care of their "Opa".

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind a son, Martin, daughter-in-law Tara, and grandchildren Shannon and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister Ruth Lang who resides in his hometown of Apolda, Germany.
