Sister Yvonne Richard, CSC (Sister Mary Edmond, martyr), 102, of the Sisters of Holy Cross died April 24, 2016.
Born in Canada on November 2, 1913, she was the daughter of Edmond and Zarela (Heon) Richard. Sister Yvonne earned a BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1932 and made her final profession in 1939. She served the congregation for 84 years.
Sister Yvonne taught in elementary parochial schools under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in New Bedford, Somersworth, and Rollinsford, MA; and Manchester, and Nashua, NH. Later in her life she was a dietician at Infant Jesus Covenant, Nashua, NH for several years. Sister retired to St. George's Manor in 2002. She will be remembered as a creative and loving teacher; also as a beautiful, quiet, and kind person who was a joy to live with.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews who she cared for and loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. Pius X Church. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery. Donations may be made to Sisters of Holy Cross Development Fund, 377 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH 03109.
