Sr. Yvonne Robida, 85, of Manchester, died May 28, 2003, at the Holy Cross Health Center.
Born in New Bedford MA, April 29, 1918, she was the daughter of Ludger and Clara (McLean) Robida.
She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross at St. Laurent, Montreal, in 1935, where she made her final profession in 1942.
Sister Yvonne earned a B.A. from Notre Dame College, Manchester, NH in 1959 and a Masters in Science Degree from Catholic University, Washington, DC in 1969. Sr. Yvonne also received two grants from the Natural Science Foundation, first from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, and the second from Alfred University in Alfred, NY.
She taught 51 years of parochial, elementary and high school, under the direction of the Sisters of Holy Cross in Nashua, Somersworth, Rochester, Manchester, and Franklin NH. In addition she taught in Springfield, New Bedford and Westport, MA, and in St. Albans, VT. She taught for 11 years in the New Bedford Public School system.
She retired to Our Lady of Sacred Heart Home in Franklin in 1987. In 2000 she transferred to St. George Manor, Manchester, NH.She dedicated 68 years of her life to the Church and to the Congregation.
Family members include, two sisters; Sister Lucille Robida, CSC, of Manchester, Therese Audette of New Bedford MA.; a nephew, Normand Audette of New Bedford, MA.; a great nephew and 2 great nieces
She was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest Robida, Norman Robida, and Fr. Raymond Robida
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday May 30, 2003 at The Chapel of St. George Manor . Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Development fund, 377 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, NH 03109
